  • Future City Competition

Saturday, January 16th, the Future City team traveled to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, in Huntsville, AL to present their design of a city of the future.

Prior to the competition students created a virtual city and wrote an essay describing their future city.

This year’s theme was waste not want not. The team had to solve the problem of the city’s solid waste.

At the competition, students presented their 3-D models to judges and were able to learn about other schools’ team’s cities of the future.

J.H. Phillips Academy team was awarded “Best Land Surveying Practices” by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.

This was Phillips Academy’s first year participating in this competition.

Welcome to John Herbert Phillips Academy; A PYP and MYP authorized IB World School.

JHPA is committed to ensure students fulfill their dreams through our rigorous school programs, assessments and committed community outreach. We strive to lead our students to become independent, critical thinkers, and life-long learners while fostering a respect for diversity within a global society.
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.  To this end, the IB works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.  These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Competition for weekly usage of Stride Academy began last week. Categories are K, 1, 2, 3-5 and 6-8. Grade level winners will receive their rewards in the lunch room on Fridays and individual winners will receive prizes during Lion’s Den. Stride Academy is an activity that aligns with our state standards.
