Avondale's motto is "Expect the Best".  Our school staff is committed to providing the best for our students.  High expectations enable us to strengthen our school's instructional program to improve student achievement.  We have identified specific goals and standards to ensure effective teaching and improve student performance.  Avondale's test scores consistently improve each year.  My personal goal is for Avondale to be the highest performing school in the Birmingham City School District.  All stakeholders have claimed this goal

 

   Our school staff realizes what we do in our classroom reaches far beyond the classroom.  Our purpose is to provide a student-centered educational environment where individual student needs are met.  Learning, thinking and study skills are developed through our emphasis on a strong fine arts curriculum for all students.  

 

   All students learn best when faced with challenges, have choices and take responsibility in their own learning.  Implementation of "Best Practices", both in Leadership and Teaching Strategies, has guided Avondale's staff in setting high expectations of excellence and outstanding student performance in a non-threatening, safe learning environment.  At Avondale we, "Expect the Best"!
