Students received a host of valuable safety information from a team of experts (Pictured left to right: Mr. Benefield and Mr. Pugh from the AL Dept. of Transportation and Sr. Officer King of the AL Law Enforcement Agency) on what's needed for head and body protection while riding a bike or traveling in vehicles. They learned about the dangers of waiting near the curb while waiting for the school bus and that if something is dropped while crossing in front of the bus to leave it. A model of a brain was displayed to show how fragile it is and that their heads should be protected using a bike helmet.

Tuggle has become a Leader In Me school! It is one of four Birmingham City Schools where teachers will teach students to apply the 7 habits of highly effective people, inspired by Stephen R. Covey, that will enable students to take charge of their personal lives and to develop a mindset that will enable them to interact well with others in their future careers. Click on the "Leader In Me" link above to discover the 7 habits and what they mean.
Tuggle has several new teachers that are now a part of its highly qualified and professional staff. They bring a multitude of skills and talents with them to serve our growing student population. They are as follows: Kindergarten - Ms. Alyson Patterson, Ms. Mary Schultz, and Ms. Aimee Watkins; Second Grade - Ms. Troymere Mose-Miles; Fourth Grade - Ms. Courtney Mallory and Ms. Kenyatta Jackson; Art - Ms. Laura Mitchell; Physical Education - Coach Charles Winters; Speech - Ms. Wilson; Special Education - Mrs. Courtney Hyde; ESL - Mrs. Angela Baylon; Band - John-Micheal Williams
Students will be engaged in pivotal art experiences this school year that will enable them to express their creative side. “We need people who think with the creative side of their brains—people who have played in a band, who have painted…it enhances symbiotic thinking capabilities, not always thinking in the same paradigm, learning how to kick-start a new idea, or how to get a job done better, less expensively.” –Annette Byrd, GlaxoSmithKline
