    Conference

We are aware that a constant line of communication must be maintained between the classroom teacher and the parent to create a successful student. However, we are unable to permit conferences and “peek-ins” during daily instructional time. The teachers belong to the students from 8:00a.m. - 3:00p.m. Please arrange a mutually convenient time by sending a note to your child’s teacher or by calling the school at (205) 231-3440 to arrange an appointment.

     SEPTEMBER IS ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH

Throughout the month of September, BCS will be providing opportunities to share the importance of attending school everyday and providing information on ways to improve school attendance.   We encourage all stakeholders to engage in this conversation to improve our average daily attendance.

Below is a link to a webinar hosted by The United Way.  Webinar speakers will share examples of how they use chronic absence data to unpack the causes of absenteeism so that schools, districts and community partners can develop solutions tailored to local challenges and resources.  To register for this informative webinar, please click on the link below.

    School Attendance and Punctuality

    attendance

Good attendance is directly related to a child’s enjoyment and achievement at school and is vital to promote successful learning.

Persistent or long-term absence has a negative impact in all areas of school life, not just on academic achievement but also on the development of key skills and friendships. Interrupted attendance makes teaching and learning difficult and undermines the educational process leading to educational disadvantage.
