    Welcome to Phillips Academy!  We are also known as "The Academy", or simply JHPA.  We popularly refer to ourselves and our culture as "World Class!"  2016 - 2017 school year was one of the most exciting ever at JHPA.  We set the standard in many academic and extra-curricular activities.  Notable among these achievements are: District Academic Bowl Champions (middle and elementary), Speak First District Overall Winners, statewide honors among many school districted across the state in Junior United Nations (JUNA), and many other individual and group academic competitions.
    In sports, who can forget our Lions sweeping their way to an undefeated BCS Middle School Football Championship, our mighty Lady Lions Softball team, Girl's Soccer, Boy's Basketball, and Baseball trophies?  Our Lion's Pride were magnificent as ever in academic and athletic competitions, so much so that some of those memories deserve a "Where were you when...?"  If you missed any of these activities, stand fast, because in 2017-2018 we will do it again or even better.
    If I sound....enthused about JHPA or these achievements, you do not know the half of it.  JHPA continues to stand as one of the bastions of teaching and learning in the state of Alabama.  Just watch the JUNA video again and you will see the character, spirit, and (Preparedness, Responsibility, Inquirers, Disciplined, and Empathetic (PRIDE) of JHPA on display.  Who can forget our World Class SGA debate, which was a first of it's kind in the nation?  This year, our students also visited Costa Rica and Israel on their international field trips.
    Ultimately, our core business is teaching and learning.  We strive to provide our students with a World Class learning environment and exposure through our International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary and Middle Year Programs.  For the 2017 - 2018 year, we will be #1 in all subject areas in the district and in the State of Alabama.  This year, our aim will also be to:
    * Continue offering rigorous instructions
    * Improve differentiation of instruction in our pedagogy
    * Continue implementing our IB programs with fidelity
    * Complete our IB reauthorization successfully
    * Continue building on positive communication and collaboration among all stakeholders
    We can do it.  We have the BEST students on the planet, the BEST teachers, and most of all our parents are the BEST ever!  You literally cannot spell "awesome" without the acronym JHPA!
    Please examine other links on our page for additional information regarding the unique programs and activities at JHPA.  We offer more than most high schools in the state, and this is because our staff and parents are committed to academic and athletic excellence at JHPA.  Let us keep this up, and continue to work together in the spirit of everything we hold dear about JHPA's illustrious past and present.
    Go Lions!
