To the Parents and/or Legal Guardians:

Hello and welcome to the fourth and fifth grade.  My name is Mrs. Katherine B. Thirkill-Archibald and I am your child’s math and science teacher for the 2019 – 2020 school year.  I have been teaching for over 10 years and I am excited about all that we are going to learn as well as what we can accomplish together.

In order to move forward we must look at our mistakes and build upon the errors we have made for failure is not an option.  We should look at each day as a beginning and ask yourself what can I do today to prepare for tomorrow.  I am asking everyone to come with an open mind, an eagerness to learn, and a willingness to accept new ideas to an old concept of thought.

The Daily Expectations are very important to help all students have the best possible education with minimal instructional interruptions possible.  Please discuss them with your child; I’ve found it to be helpful to give different scenes in which the child could relate to helping them fully understand. I have also provided a syllabus for both fourth and fifth grade curriculum for this year.

The Parent Contact Form gives me the necessary contact information in the case of an emergency.  The 2019-2020 School Supply List can be found here.

There is one request I ask of all my parents; please have your child at school on time.  This will help me and your child to begin promptly when the bell rings at 8:00 a.m.

Homework is issued daily, and it is your child’s responsibility to make sure he or she has their homework.

I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful school year.  If you have any questions feel free to call me at 205.231.7740 Tuesdays thru Thursdays between 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

    Cordially yours,

    Mrs. Thirkill-Archibald
