Facilities and Maintenance

  • The Mission of the Facilities, Maintenance, and Operations Department is to provide professional service throughout the district to all faculty, staff, and students year round. The department's aim is to meet those needs by maintaining a safe, secure and comfortable environment which is conducive to a positive learning experience. As a team, the department strives to support the facilities needs of the district by promoting and providing quality service to all. 

    Overview of Facilities & Maintenance


    Facilities & Maintenance is at the epicenter of operations of the Birmingham City Schools system. The department ensures that the system is able to realize its vision and accomplish its mission by consistently ensuring that the system's physical facilities and grounds are maintained to a high standard of operational excellence, cleanliness, and safety. Several departments, working cooperatively and independently, ensure the maintenance of grounds, facilities, physical aesthetics, levels of comfort, purchase and upkeep of certain small equipment, transfer of furniture and other commodities between facilities and other related educational activities.

    To improve the physical plant and facilities in order to provide an environment conducive to the teaching, learning process. 

    The goal of facilities and maintenance is provide high quality service to the Birmingham City Schools district.
