Ms. Phylecia Ragland
Phylecia Ragland is the cheer coach for the W. Christian’s Middle School cheerleading squad. She has been am educator with the Birmingham City School System thirteen. She currently teaches 7th grade Pre-AP English/Language Arts. In 2010, Ms. Ragland's colleagues voted her as “Teacher of the Year”. In 2012, Ms. Ragland, along with two other team-teachers, wrote an educational grant and received funding, $10,000.00, to learn and explore Europe. This two week excursion allowed Ms. Ragland and her team to collect information, images, and resources to be used to create a curriculum of activities and pedagogy, which produced a more engaging learning environment that enhanced students’ interests in reading. In 2018, the WJC's PTA voted Ms. Ragland as "Middle School Teacher of the Year".
Ms. Ragland attended Leeds High School and is a proud alumna of Stillman College. Growing up working with adolescences, Ms. Ragland developed a passion for serving children. She enjoys helping her students reach for their dreams through their education, strongly believing that an education should and “can” empower a child and aid him or her towards making a positive contribution to our world.
Ms. Ragland is the aunt of three adorable nieces and an athletic, handsome nephew. She sings with a gospel recording group, as well as her church’s praise team. During her leisure, Ms. Ragland enjoys reading, cooking, baking, traveling, and creating life-long memories by spending time with her family and friends. Ms. Ragland is also the proud owner of Write Way, LLC, a professional writing & editing service.
As the cheer advisor, Ms. Ragland thoroughly enjoys working with young ladies, challenging, encouraging, and motivating them to be the best they can be and never to settle for average.
