In an effort to optimize student achievement, Birmingham City Schools (BCS) is currently reviewing its zoning and feeder pattern system.
BCS is working to achieve the following goals by realigning school zones and feeder patterns:-Increase Alabama State Department of Education funded units by thoughtfully restructuring schools to meet requirements for additional Assistant Principal, Counselor and Library/Media units.
-Increase teacher units, in both core and elective areas by redirecting expenditures.
-Decrease transportation costs by reducing distances.
-Provide clear feeder patterns that are easily understood by all stakeholders.
-Provide equitable course offerings.
Community Meeting Dates
The district will host community meetings to receive public input (presentations will be uploaded after each community meeting). Please note the time change for Parker High School's meeting, which has been moved to 5 p.m.
