Alabama State Department Monitoring
Monitoring Shows Positive Progress!
The State Department conducted a Focused Monitoring visit on April 5-8, 2010. The district's performance was scored 100% acceptable for cases that were involved in the Student Services Reviews. This score recognizes the positive quality of special education practices and supports in this district. Congratulations to teachers and co-workers!
Second Chat Held!
Our second Autism Chat held on April 15, 2010, was great! Many thanks to Robinson Elementary School for serving as host. Karen Lee, special educator from Robinson, and Alicia Hill-Norman, preschool special-educator, both served as presenters and modelled based on their vast experiences with children on the Autism Spectrum. Highlights from several schools, including Carver High School, were shared with the group.
Another Chat will be held before the end of the school year. These serve as a wonderful way for teachers (general AND special) and staff to collaborate, learn, and share their collective insights.
Check STI PD for the next Autism Chat!
