International Thespian Society Application for Induction Process.

What does Thespian Mean?
Actors and actresses are called thespians in honor of Thespis, a Greek playwright and performer. Around 535 B.C., Thespis added a new dimension to drama by stepping out of the Greek chorus during a performance and reciting portions of the text alone, becoming the first actor.
The International Thespian Society (ITS) is the honor society for secondary school theatre students. Membership is granted for the performance of meritorious work in theatre arts. Take a moment and review the information below. Applicants must be a consistent participant in RHS theatre classes or RHS theatre/dance productions, accumulate 100 or more hours from activities ranging from the Ramsay Department of Theatre and Dance, community productions, and junior productions in middle school. Inductees must be the 11th or 12th grade and have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
