Welcome to Hemphill Elementary School, “Where the Scholar meets Excellence!” Teaching and learning is the core of our educational process. As the instructional leader, I have charged the faculty and staff with choosing an “R” from our “4 R options” here at R.C. Hemphill Elementary School. Those options are to Recommit, Relocate, Resign, or Retire. It is my ultimate desire for everyone working here to recommit to the community, parents, students and their chosen profession of cultivating and molding the lives of students to become productive and successful law abiding citizens. If at any time it seems like recommitting is a concern, then conversations may be held about relocating. This may consist of relocating to another grade level or another school. If relocating hasn’t helped, then a conversation about resigning or retiring is needed. ULTIMATELY, I want what is BEST for STUDENTS. The teachers here at R.C. Hemphill have chosen to Recommit. Our next goal is to incorporate a new “R,” Relationships.
We will focus on building Relationships for this academic year. Parents , I ask that you Recommit to Hemphill in every aspect. Together, we will work on building better Relationships with each other as a school community. Remembering our focus is on our students, we will model respect towards each other at all times. They are watching.
This will be a productive year of teaching and learning. Our teachers have had professional development and planning over the summer in order to provide purposeful, differentiated instruction. Every minute of the instructional day will be utilized to develop the whole child. With that said, parents it is imperative for you to have your child at school by 7:50 every morning. At 8:01, they are tardy. Every tardy takes away from the learning environment by disrupting the morning procedures. In order for us to improve in all aspects of the curriculum, students need to be seated by 8:00 a.m. and ready to learn.
Thank you for being supportive of us. We have the best interest of the students in mind. If at any time you have a question or concern, please call the front office to schedule a conference. This will be a REMARKABLE year!
