Welcome to Barrett Elementary School where we are
    "Walking in Excellence."

I am Tikki Hines, and I have been in education for seventeen years. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama.  I have a certification in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and I received my masters degree from Alabama State University. I have taught in several school districts throughout the state of Alabama. My first year of teaching was in Selma City Schools at Cedar Park Elementary. Then, I moved to Shelby County Schools and taught at Calera Elementary for three years. I have been educating children in Birmingham City Schools since 2000. I served as the fifth grade teacher at Princeton Alternative Elementary for nearly twelve years and I served at Bush Hills Academy for two years. In 2012 I became the assistant principal and the curriculum resource specialist at George W. Carver High School. In January, 2018 I became interim principal of Barrett Elementary School and I became the principal in August, 2018. .

I am looking forward to utilizing the skill sets to build upon the goals and expectations for Barrett Elementary School. It is my desire to influence learning in a positive manner; to assist teachers  and students exceed their maximum potential; prepare students to be College and Career Ready; and prepare students to compete in a 21st Century Society. Moreover, it is my desire to influence professionals to go above and beyond in guiding all students to achieve excellence in a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
