Mrs. Sharon Blanding-Glass
Mrs. Sharon Blanding- Glass was born in Birmingham, AL, raised in Miami, FL and later returned to Birmingham for high school. She is a product of Jefferson County Schools graduating from Fultondale High School behind her mom, aunt, uncles and brother. She received a Bachelor of Science in Social Science / Secondary Education, a Master of Science in Continuing Education in Counseling Psychology, a Master of Education in School Counseling all from Livingston University which is now the University of West Alabama. She holds a Class B Teacher Certificate and Class A Certificate in School Counseling also from Livingston University (UWA). Mrs. Glass began her teaching career in 1996 in Sumter County, AL spending two years as a teacher and then moving to Livingston High School as the School Counselor. In 2000, she became the System Therapist for Kemper County School in Kemper County, MS. In 2003 she joined Birmingham City Schools as a teacher at Riggins Alternative School. Later she transitioned through Birmingham City middle schools then high schools ending her teaching role at Huffman High School in 2018. After reigniting her passion for Counseling, she now serves as the counselor at Bush Hills S.T.E.A.M. Academy. Mrs. Glass’s philosophy of school counseling includes building relationships with students of all backgrounds, having enthusiasm to help students, advocating for students' success, and collaborating with parents and community stakeholders to ensure and provide every student with the opportunity for success.
