Dr. Marjorie Hyatt is a National Board Certified teacher who joined the G. W. Carver High School faculty in 2008 after serving on the West End High School faculty from 1987 until the school's closing in 2008.
Dr. Hyatt is a long-time resident of Birmingham and a product of Birmingham City Schools. After moving to Birmingham, over Christmas break of her 4th grade year, she attended Price and then Central Park Elementary schools. Her high school years were spent at the Alabama School of Fine Arts as an art studio major. Graduating with both academic and fine arts honors, she was awarded the highest scholarship given to freshmen at the Memphis College of Art and Design.
On returning to Birmingham, Dr. Hyatt went on to earn both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Studio, English, and Anthropology, and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has a Masters of Art Education from U.A.B. through the U.A.B. and University of Alabama linkage program, and an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
She shares her Christian home with her husband, two daughters and their two cats. Her hobbies, beyond creating art, include reading, cooking, sewing, and historical research and reenactment.
