I have been employed with Birmingham City Schools for 15 years as a special education teacher.  I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in telecommunications from Alabama A&M University in Normal, Alabama.  I continued my education journey and earned a Master’s of Education degree from Auburn University in Montgomery in special education.  After becoming employed as a teacher with Birmingham City Schools, I pursued and received an additional master’s degree endorsement from the School of Psychometry from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
As a special education teacher one of my primary responsibilities is to provide support through accommodations to the general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with disabilities as indicated by their individual education plan (IEP); as well as collaborate with general education teachers regarding student needs and success.

Prior to moving to Birmingham and becoming a teacher, I was employed in cooperate America for 13 ½ years as a human resources manager with a major telecommunications company in a neighboring metropolitan city.

I enjoy traveling abroad to tropical islands and cities that are rich in history, cultural diversity, and divine cuisine.  In addition to traveling, I also enjoy listening to contemporary jazz, patronizing the arts, reading works written by African American writers; and participating in events and causes that strive to find cures for debilitating and fatal diseases.
