I am Shunquella J. Delaine. I was born to Ms. Debra Richardson on August 30, in Birmingham, AL. I have two siblings to whom I am the oldest: Deavin and Montarius . I also have an 18-year-old son, Tyler, who is the joy of my life.
I have always had a passion for music. I started singing in the church choir at age 5. I continued through elementary school where I began to play instruments that included flute, piccolo, piano, bass clarinet and violin. I attended A.H. Parker High School where I was a member of the marching band. I was also an active member in the Concert Touring Choir under the direction of Perry L. Anderson. Under his direction, I traveled to New York, where I sang at the world-renowned Carnegie Hall, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Indiana, Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio. Through God’s will I was awarded a full music scholarship to Stillman College, where I was privileged to sing a second time at Carnegie Hall and also tour cities in both Florida and Texas.
During my matriculation at Stillman, I pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I majored in Elementary Education and graduated with honors in May of 1998. In May of 2016, I received my Master of Science(MSACE) in Counseling/Psychology from the University of West AL. I have been living my dream of shaping young minds for the last twenty-two years here at Sun Valley Elementary School.
