I am Ms.Wanda Jordan Melton, the Family Studies teacher at Ramsay Alternative IB High school. I am the proud mother of two adult sons, Evan and Adam.   Family Studies gives students skills needed to manage their lives and become independent citizens of this world. My goal is to give the students guidelines on managing their family life, relationships, time, money, nutrition and wellness, clothing care and sewing techniques. With these skills the students will build a satisfing life now and in the future.

I have been an educator with Birmingham City Schools for twentyfour years. This will be my ninth year at Ramsay High and sixteen years teaching middle school. My former schools have been Bush Middle School, Glenn Middle School, and Huffman Middle School.  I have a BS degree from The University of Alabama, ROLL TIDE, and received my teacher certification from Miles College. But I am very proud to come back to my alma-mater, Ramsay High School, as a teacher in the Birmingham City School system.

I realize that this year will be different from the past, but I am looking forward to a great year with our Ramsay Scholars.
