I am excited to begin my first year as Principal at Carrie A. Tuggle Elementary School. Professionally, I have 11 years of experience in public education as a 4th and 5th grade teacher, Math and Science Coach, Curriculum Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Interim Principal. I began my teaching experience as a 5th grade teacher in 2004 at Gibson Elementary. I taught 4th grade at Glen Iris Elementary School and Phillips Academy. I served as the Math and Science Coach for 4 years at Glen Iris Elementary. I was an Assistant Principal at Phillips Academy during the 2012-2013 school year. I have served as the Curriculum Specialist at Glen Iris Elementary and the Assistant Principal. I also served as Interim Principal at Princeton Alternative Elementary School during the 2014-2015 school year.
I believe that education is a tool that can be used to positively impact the world. I am a 1999 graduate of John Carroll Catholic High School. I have received my collegiate educational experiences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I have my Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, Master of Arts in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and Educational Leadership, and an Educational Leadership Specialist Degree (Ed.S). I believe that learning is a lifelong process and I hope to one day obtain my Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
I enjoy traveling, spending quality time with my family and church. I come from a family of educators.
I have a passion for teaching and learning. I also believe that students are global learners and when given the opportunity to learn and grow they have the capability to become future leaders of tomorrow, "Knowledge is power"! As an Instructional Leader, I am committed to serving students, parents, and teachers. I am looking forward to a dynamic school year!
