Welcome to Mrs. Rocker-Stewart’s Sixth Grade ClassWelcome Back to School! I hope you had a restful and peaceful summer. Can you believe you’re in Middle School already? I have an exciting year planned for you, including new materials to learn, new friends to meet and new skills to master, and I look forward to sharing in this exciting time with you. Parents, you are just as important to your children’s education as I am. I encourage you to fully embrace this moment and urge you to take the time from your busy schedule to become familiar with our school, as well as create a homework friendly home environment that will allow your child to excel. Your child receives the best education when we work as a TEAM!!!
My classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies not only in abilities, but also in learning styles. My role as teachers is to give children the tools with which to cultivate their own ideas of knowledge. To accomplish this goal, I will teach to the needs of each child so that all learners can feel capable and successful. I will present curriculum that involves the interests of the children and makes learning relevant to life. Incorporating themes, integrated units, projects, group work, individual work, and hands-on learning is necessary in order to make children active learners. Learning will be tied into the world community to help children become caring and active members of society. All children can achieve to their full potential as they follow the educational path and basic essentials of learning. It is my plan to inspire and motivate the students to seek more by showing them that they can have fun in the search. This is inevitably a challenge, but one that I look forward to. My goals this year is to provide an opportunity for continual learning and growth.
Sixth grade is an exciting time as students emerge as “middle schoolers” with unique social, emotional, and academic characteristics. I look forward to working with you and your child as you all transition to middle school! Parents, your support will be greatly appreciated throughout the entire school year.
