Greetings!!!! I am delighted to serve as the Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) Instructional Coach for the "World Class IB Phillips Academy". This is my third year as an ARI Coach in Birmingham City Schools. My prior positions include Sixth Grade Teacher (12 Years) and Curriculum Resource Specialist. I am a die hard fan (WAR EAGLE) and Auburn Alumna (Bachelor's Degree). I also earned degrees from the University of Montevallo (M. Ed and Ed.S) and I am currently pursuing a doctorate in Instructional Leadership from the University of Alabama. I am a National Board Certified (2006) and Renewed Teacher (2016).  My goals for this year are to strengthen the reading program at Phillips and to increase reading comprehension. One of my favorites motto's is "Once you learn to be read, you will forever be free" by Frederick Douglas. The ability to read and comprehend creates many possibilities. I look forward to working with faculty, students and parents to help unlock the unlimited potential at Phillips. This is going to be an awesome year!!
