Mrs. Jasmine Baldwin Biddings
Greetings parents and scholars! My name is Jasmine Baldwin Biddings, and I am excited to embark on this 2020-21 school year with you! A little bit about me: I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2014, and I began my teaching career in Hale County, Alabama at Akron Community School via Teach for America. After teaching at Akron for one year as the seventh through twelfth grade English teacher, I moved back to Birmingham, my hometown, where I was hired by the Birmingham City Schools, and I have had the pleasure of teaching English Language Arts at Ramsay High School since 2015. Since my tenure at Ramsay, I have acquired my Master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama as well as become a fellow of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Red Mountain Writing Project.
Teaching is such a rewarding career field, and my greatest desire is for all children to have access to the education that they deserve in order to be well-rounded citizens in our society. As an educator, I am a strong proponent of reading, writing, and speaking. The abilities to critically read, comprehend and articulate one’s thoughts are the biggest advocacy tools that a person can possess. Especially today, a person’s ability, capacity, and intelligence are judged based on these factors. Because of this, I emphasize reading, writing, and speaking components within my classroom, as they will affect students for their entire lives.
This year, I am thrilled to be teaching English 9,English 11, and College Essentials of English. I look forward to growing and learning with each of you!
