• Welcome 6th Grader and Family!!!!

Congratulations...you made it to Middle School!  Welcome to Mrs. Durr 6th grade English Language Arts (ELA) class here at Hudson K-8 school.  Get ready to make your mark!  I hope you are as excited as I am to get this new school year started.  I am thrilled to be your teacher and look forward to a fun and productive year together.  Be ready to bring your “A” game.  As a 6th grade student at Hudson K-8, you will have many expectations and responsibilities.

In my classroom, I work hard to promote a tight-knit community.  I believe in a safe environment.  I work hard all year long building a classroom that encourages risk-taking thinking, respect, trust, and a sense of ownership among students.  I truly understand the enormity of my job and I relish in the responsibility and the rewards.  I also believe that parents, teacher, and students must work as a team to achieve our highest potential.

As we begin this year it is important to know what will be expected of students in my classroom. My first expectation is that students will be there! Attendance is important as we move quickly, it can take several days to catch up on missing 1 class.  Students are also expected to study even when we do not have homework. This can be one of the hardest lessons for 6th graders to learn. Just because we do not have a homework assignment does not mean they are excused from studying.   Each day, at the end of class, we will write any homework or important upcoming dates, such as tests, in our agendas.   Each student is expected to have their agenda in class daily.  Should you have a question please feel free to write a note in the agenda, I will reply the next day. If you prefer to speak to me directly you can call the school and leave a message with the office. All messages will be returned during my planning period from 10:35 - 11:35 daily.
