WELCOME TO THEATRE ARTS! JOIN US ON A FANTASTIC VOYAGE!
The 2022-23 season is off to a great start! That is exciting news because its an indicator that the high expectations set for student success can be achieved. I invite students, parents, faculty and staff as well as community stakeholders to join us as we venture toward new horizons. Reflecting on the past academic seasons, I am proud of the accomplishments we have made in theatre arts in spite of the pandemic and its aftermath. I remain committed to helping our students evolve into well-rounded, productive citizens - growing academically and artistically - BCS Strong!
My teaching philosophy is simple. It is my professional duty to maintain a safe, nurturing, and creative environment conducive for learning and building productive relationships without bias, while inspiring students to strive for academic success and acquire skills to be effective citizens in the communities where they live.
I believe it is my calling to help young people realize their maximum potential. Each and every student possesses the ability to be great. Sometimes that ability unfolds in an academic setting, and sometimes it takes a more creative approach to unlock the power within a child. That's the beauty of having the benefit of an arts education. Stars may shine, but diamonds in the rough sparkle as well.
Parents and students, I welcome open communication. Please contact the office (205.231.7000) or email me at jlockhart@bhm.k12.al.us for conferences. In closing, I would like to leave you with this quote:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?

Sincerely,
Mrs. Lockhart
