Welcome Parents and Students!

I hope you are ready for another exciting, engaging, and rigorous school year.  My purpose is to empower you with scientific knowledge to be life-long learners and successful contributors to society. We will work together to make sure you are college and/or career ready when you leave high school.  I understand there will be a learning curve in terms of creating an efficient daily routine and navigating the various educational platforms (such as Clever and Schoology), however, we will declare this school year a great success! 

Well, here's a little about me. I am a graduate of Birmingham City Schools. I obtained my Bachelors degree in Biology (Chemistry minor), from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB- Go Blazers!) After discovering a passion for teaching, I also received my Masters in Secondary Education from UAB. I truly enjoy teaching science, helping students discover his/her gifts, and empowering students with skills to make sound decision academically, socially, emotionally, and professionally. After a few years of teaching, I decided to pursure a Master's in School Counseling in order to be in a position to work directly with students in his/her decision-making process. 

Over the years, I have taught Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, and Anatomy. I have taught for five years in the Bessemer City School System, and four years in Birmingham City Schools. I am married to Fred and we have two children, Sofia and Bryce. In my free time I love spending time with family and friends, serving in the children's ministry at church, cooking as well as crafting. I truly love my profession and look forward to working with each of you!
