Mr. Aaron Jamal Kennedy

Aaron Jamal Kennedy is an alumni from the University of North Alabama. He graduated with a Bachelors in Music Education with focus in instrumental music P-12. Mr. Kennedy’s musical experiences include the Pride of Dixie Marching Band, Shoals Symphony at UNA, UNA Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band, Collegiate Singers, UNA Low Brass Ensemble, Southwind Drum and Bugle Corps and the UNA Trombone Quartet and teaching private lessons. Mr. Kennedy also premiered three original compositions from the UNA Composition studio led by Professor Samuel Merciers. Mr. Kennedy’s teachers have included Dr. Eddie Elsey, Dr. Jason Sulliman, and currently Dr. Tom Lukowicz. Mr. Kennedy has won an award in composition from the Alabama Music Educator's Association Conference. 

He is the current band director of Jones Valley Middle School. Mr. Kennedy created the Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner, and Pep Band to facilitate the many music students that are enrolled at Jones Valley.

  • This is the Jones Valley Middle School band page! Students here at Jones Valley can express their talents through instrumental progress. Students here have participated in All-City, Honor Band, and solo and ensemble festivals. We even have school concerts with small exculsive ensembles.     The Jones Valley Band is dealing with the Covid-19 Pandemic, by studying various styles of music that are written and performed across the world. The students are learning music theory as well to prepare their musical knowledge for next year! To find these links please click classroom documents. 

    REMOTE INSTRUCTIONAL PLAN:

    Band students will complete online weekly listening assignments and answer questions attached to each listening activity. Assignment can be found in the class documents, all listening activities are due May 29th, 2020.
