    Dr. Goldsmith

Welcome to Green Acres Middle School! As a staff and Professional Learning Community, we strive for excellence. We constantly refine our educational programs to better meet the individual needs and develop the special gifts of each of our students. We work together to promote collaboration, understanding, and empathy to prepare our children to be responsible decision makers and respectful world citizens.  We have adopted the motto, ‘Building the Wall.’ 1 Corinthians 12:7 states that “each one is given a manifestation of the spirit for the common good.” We celebrate our accomplishments and strive to use our heart nerve and sinew to give every student the ability to achieve his or her god given potential. Hard work alone, however, cannot produce transformation. The use of instructional frameworks such as AVID, PLC’s, Learning Focus with fidelity often yields results. Starting a new year provides opportunities to meet new colleagues, make new plans, design new strategies, and implement new ideas. There is a special kind of joy and satisfaction in planning lessons and activities for a new class. Although the subject(s) or grade level may change or remain the same, the students are new, and they appreciate the planning that is done for them. We plan to build a wall of excellence that will prepare them for the many challenges that the world has to offer and create viable citizens for our world.  Whether one's responsibility is administrating, supervising, teaching, coaching, preparing lunches, maintaining a building, or managing an office, there is always room for improvement and new ways to do a good job even better. This year, we must concentrate on the processes that spur continuing advancement: evaluating what we have, determining what we can do to improve, and identifying what we need to make those improvements. I will charge each grade level with following the process to build a wall ofa literacy for our students: 6th grade will lay the foundation, 7th grade will make the bricks, 8th grade will lay the wall, but together, we will ‘Build the Wall’ of Education.
