Coach Andre Robinson, head coach of the Parker High School Thundering Herd, can add one more accolade to his list of accomplishments. Parker High School’s Robinson coached the North team in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s 58th Annual North-South All Star football game this past July. The final score, 14-13.
Robinson coached all-star athletes hailing from numerous regions across the northern area of the state. Athletes ranged from schools such as Huffman High School to Russellville High School. All participating athletes were seniors representing the Class of 2017 and were hand selected by Alabama High School Directors and Coaches Association.
Preparation for the game consisted of a week-long workshop before the game, which included practices twice a day, meetings, and field trips for the athletes. Athletes and coaches had the pleasure of touring the Hyundai Plant as one of the field trips taken during the week. Auburn University – Montgomery hosted the week of festivities and the game was held on July 20, 2017 at the Cramton Bowl Stadium in Montgomery, AL.
The victory was the third in a row for the North team. The South’s last win came in 2014 in a 20-12 win. The North won the very first game played in the series at Tuscaloosa in 1948, 33-0. Congratulations to Coach Robinson for representing the Herd victoriously as the head coach of the North team!
Catch the Herd back in action on August 25, 2017 against Fairfield Preparatory High School. The first football game of the season will be held at Parker High School’s Major Brown Memorial Stadium.
