College Signing Day: A Celebration of Their Future
Students at Parker High School often often face an uphill climb on the road to graduation. For this reason alone, many were celebrated on last week during the Rotaract Club of Birmingham's annual College Signing Day.
College Signing Day is an event hosted by the club inspired by former First Lady, Michelle Obama's Reach Higher initiative - launched to celebrate students for their academic successes on their journey to college.
The program consisted of many guest speakers from local radio stations, the Mayor's office, and executives from the Rotaract Club. The keynote for the event was Pastor Michael McClure, Jr. of The Rock Church, Birmingham. Pastor McClure's message encourage seniors to remain focused on their goals, regardless of obstacles.
"Stay focused on what you set your mind to," McClure told seniors.
Students finished the event by signing letters of intent to attend for their colleges of choice.
