Teacher Awarded $1,000 Grant for History Classes

Grant Winner

Parker High School history teacher, Patricia Delaine, was awarded CBS 42 (WIAT)'s One Class At A Time grant Tuesday morning during a surprise assembly. The local recognition comes with a prize of $1,000 to be used in the classroom to aid teachers and students. Delaine is the contest's 5th winner this year.

The award was presented by WIAT's weekday anchor Sherri Jackson, along with partners from ECO Credit Union and McDonald's.

CBS 42 boats their commitment to the local community through outreach. Their One Class At A Time initiative provides teachers with a $1,000 grant to be used to move their classrooms forward. Teachers must apply to be considered.

Principal Darrell Hudson said: "We are so incredibly proud of Ms. Delaine and we look forward to seeing what advancements she will make in her classroom that we know will 100% benefit our scholars."

When asked by Jackson what she was feeling after being surprised with the grant, Delaine said: "I've been begging for this. I even asked my principal for the money for my classroom. I'm just so happy! And surprised."

Find out what Ms. Delaine will do with the award money Thursday night at 5 o'clock on CBS 42 (WIAT).
