Wenonah High School's Lady Dragons' victory parade will be March 23 at 12 p.m. in downtown Birmingham

A parade to celebrate the Wenonah High School girls’ basketball 5A state championship will be held Thursday, March 23  at 12 p.m. in downtown Birmingham.
This is the team's fourth straight win under the leadership of Coach Emanuel Bell. They defeated Charles Henderson High School, 55-52, on Saturday, March 4 at the BJCC during the Alabama High School Athletic Association's basketball finals. In the last few moments of the game, Wenonah came back strong from a 5-point deficit to win the game. The players said they won the game for Bell, who's fighting lung cancer.
12 p.m. - Parade starts between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue North at 23rd Street North. (Line up will be in parking lot across from Phillips Academy between 10 and 11 a.m.)  
Turn right onto Seventh Avenue. Proceed one block.
Turn left onto 22nd Street North. Proceed three blocks.
Turn right onto Park Place North. Proceed two blocks.
Turn left onto 20th Street North. Proceed three blocks.  
Turn right onto Fourth Avenue North. Proceed four blocks.
Turn right onto 16th Street North to Kelly Ingram Park.
End at Kelly Ingram Park.  
Note: Downtown Birmingham motorists traveling near this route should expect delays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
