The Woodlawn High School Debate Team is getting ready to put their skills to the test! Under the guidance of team sponsor Mr. Meloun, scholars have been working hard to prepare for their upcoming competitions.

Being part of the debate team gives scholars an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen their public speaking skills, conduct research, and learn how to develop strong arguments. Mr. Meloun encourages scholars to take ownership of the process by creating their own speeches and arguments while he provides guidance, support, and motivation along the way.

Mr. Meloun also brings valuable experience to the team after attending a debate coaches camp at Harvard, where he had the opportunity to learn from and observe talented debaters from across the country.

The Colonels will compete on October 15 from 4:00–5:00 p.m. As competition day approaches, team members are busy researching, practicing, and supporting one another.
