Today is Thundering Herd Day! Mayor Randall Woodfin and Councilor Darrell O'Quinn presented the 6A football state champions to the Birmingham City Councilthis morning. The council unanimously passed a resolution honoring the team, with the Mayor Woodfin also issuing a proclamation declaring Dec. 17, 2024 as A.H. Parker Thundering Herd Day. Let's continue the celebration with the championship parade today at noon!










More than 30 Birmingham City Schools high school scholars and recent graduates can now call themselves published authors. The Young Alabama Writers Project (YAWP!) held a book signing for Screened, a collection of essays written by BCS students about the impacts of technology on culture, at Carver High School today. Students had the opportunity to read a passage from their essays then sign copies of the book for faculty, staff, and parents in attendance.
