Teams from P.D. Jackson-Olin High School and South Hampton K-8 School are among 100 schools nationwide to advance to the semifinal round of Samsung's annual Solve for Tomorrow competition.
The objective of the competition is for teams to provide solutions to real-world problems using science, engineering, technology, and mathematics (STEM). The Jackson-Olin team is working to restore Village Creek, while South Hampton (last year's Alabama winner in the competition) is proposing a tornado alert system.
The teams earned $10,00 prize package of Samsung technology and the opportunity to compete for additional prize packages.
