All BCS schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 16th in observance of Presidents’ Day.




This week and next week, 2nd-5th grade students will be completing the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) test. The ACAP Summative Test is a standards-based criterion-referenced assessment designed to provide information regarding students’ progress toward mastery of the Alabama Course of Study Standards. Students are encouraged to become familiar with the online testing tools and resources video. Students and parents can access the online testing tools and resources video using the link below. 6 Test-Taking Tips for Students is attached as well. Please read over these tips so that we can have student success on our ACAP.

What is a specialty school? Our specialty schools challenges and enriches scholars with advanced curricula and dedicated staffs. Each school provides an atmosphere that enhances academic performance and encourages student leadership opportunities and responsibilities. To attend a specialty school, students must submit apply and are selected based on their most recent state assessment scores and other pre-selection criteria.

Parents or guardians of BCS students attending a “Priority School” have until Sunday, March 1, 2026 to submit the School Choice Transfer Request Form for the 2026-2027 academic year.
