Welcome to the Department of Post-Secondary Success for Birmingham City Schools. Our primary focus is to prepare more than 22,000 students for success after high school. We aim to lead all students toward excellence in a safe and supportive environment. By implementing a rigorous curriculum, practical strategies, data-driven decision-making, and shared accountability, we ensure that every student successfully transitions to college, military and/or skillfully enter the workforce.

Focus Areas

College
Students are prepared to excel in a post-secondary institution of learning. In addition to rigorous coursework and advanced curricula, students may simultaneously engage in dual enrollment opportunities to earn high school and college credit, reducing the number of courses required to earn a college degree.

Career
Students are prepared to enter the workforce and have the opportunity to earn industry credentials that prime them for success in various careers while completing coursework.

Leadership
These programs build confidence and focus on developing the student as a well-rounded person.
