Students from Wenonah High School are bringing national recognition to Birmingham City Schools after earning top honors at the 2025 National Career Development Conference, held April 23ā27 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The students competed as part of the Jobs for Alabamaās Graduates (JAG) program, which focuses on career readiness and leadership skills.
Dana Scott, a senior, took home 1st place in the nation in the Career Preparedness event, while fellow senior Sean Ash earned a spot in the Top 10 nationally for Prepared Speaking ā his second consecutive year achieving this distinction. Lillie Mielke, a junior, also represented Wenonah in the Financial Literacy competition.
āThese students have shown dedication to building the JAG program in the Birmingham City School District and have worked tirelessly to develop their professionalism and build a pathway toward post-secondary success,ā said Dr. Dana W. Marshall, JAG Coordinator. āI am proud of their growth and look forward to watching them as they continue to excel.ā
The JAG program equips students with the skills and confidence to succeed in college, careers, and beyond. Wenonahās achievements highlight the strength of the districtās commitment to preparing students for life after high school.
