The Birmingham City Schools Department of Professional Development has named Minnie Lawson-Cook of Martha Gaskins Elementary as the Lead Mentor of the Month for April 2025.
Mrs. Lawson-Cook is the Lead Mentor at Martha Gaskins Elementary School, where she makes a meaningful impact by supporting both new and experienced teachers. With four years in the role, she is known for her spirit of excellence, collegiality, and professionalism, earning recognition as the 2023 BCS Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Her colleagues value her weekly meetings, classroom visits, and instructional coaching. Mrs. Lawson-Cook is a vital part of both her school community and the Teacher Engagement and Mentoring (T.E.A.M.) program.
