Aubrey Bennett and Andrea Bobbs receive their prizes from the JLabs Birmingham Bowl

Representatives of the JLab Birmingham Bowl and the College Football Playoff Foundation surprised the reigning Birmingham City Schools Teachers of the Year, Aubrey Bennett of G.W. Carver High School and Andrea Bobbs of Sun Valley Elementary School.

Birmingham Bowl Executive Director Mark Meadows presented each of the teachers with a $1,500 gift certificate for classroom resources, a selection of personal electronics from JLab, a t-shirt and a certificate of recognition. Each will also receive a pair of tickets to the JLab Birmingham Bowl, which will take place at Protective Stadium in Birmingham on Dec. 29.

Earlier this year, Bobbs was named the Elementary Teacher of the Year for Birmingham City Schools, marking the second consecutive year an educator for Sun Valley received the honor.

Bennett was not only named Secondary Teacher of the Year for Birmingham City Schools but also the Alabama Alternative Teacher of the Year and the Secondary Teacher of the Year for the state.
