Birmingham City Council President Pro Tem LaTonya A. Tate revealed today that P.D. Jackson-Olin High School has been allocated $6,500 through this year's Discretionary Funding Initiative from her District 9 Office.
Announced during a check presentation at the school today, the funds are designated to support expenses related to SGA, ROTC, FBLA, Band, Robotics, Art Club, Fashion Design, Choir, Home Economics, Debate Team Shirts, and Personal Hygiene Items.
“We extend our sincere congratulations to you and your entire school community,” said Tate in a letter to the school. “We truly value this collaboration and look forward to celebrating this investment in your students and school community.”
Present at the check presentation were Board Member Yamika Foy, Birmingham City Schools Chief of Staff Dr. Terry Lamar, Instructional Superintendent Dr. Janice Drake, and Jackson-Olin Interim Principal Toyal McLain.
Among the District 9 Office team at the presentation was Mariama Diallo, a proud graduate of P.D. Jackson-Olin High School.
