Joyrdyn Craig has just finished eighth grade at Phillips Academy but she has already earned a full scholarship to Troy University! The award came through a Juneteenth talent competition that Craig, a singer, won last week.
Elias Hendricks of Vox Academy recommended the opportunity to Craig. Vox Academy is also an education partner for our Superintendent's Academy summer program. We are grateful to all of our partners in helping our scholars find the path to success!

As a part of this summer's theme, "Literacy and Justice for ALL," the Honorable Randall Woodfin, Mayor of the City of Birmingham, joined students at Phillips Academy to discuss some of the social justice issues that our rising fourth through sixth-grade scholars have been investigating and researching as part of our Superintendent's Academy.
Why social justice? Culturally responsive teaching empowers students with the skills to address social justice issues, enabling our next generation of future innovators, creators, entrepreneurs, and leaders to be productive members of a larger global society.
The Superintendentās Academy is a 4-week, achievement-based, summer enrichment opportunity designed to engage scholars in grades 4-12. #SuccessStartsHere
