Board President Sherman Collins, Huffman Academy PTO President Rosalind Short, the Birmingham Police Department, Birmingham Fire and Rescue and Irondale Police Department were among the participants in the parade.
After the parade, scholars enjoyed some sweet treats from Dream Flavors and some playtime in the bouncy houses!










Scholars at Princeton Alternative Elementary commemorated the day by planting a trio of trees in the schoolyard! 🌲

🌪️ South Hampton K-8 Storm Sentinels Team were national finalists in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026 competition.
🏃🏾♂️ Jackson-Olin H.S. Boys Indoor Relay Team finished #1 in 6A, #2 in Alabama, #10 in Southeast Region and #12 in the nation. The team ran the fastest time 4x400m time (3:17.54) by a 6A program in a decade!

The Junior Achievement McWane Economic Education Center will provide experiential learning in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship to more than 20,000 students each year.
